Welcome to the Cub Scout Pack 97 web site! We meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday nights at Summer Grove United Methodist Church at 9119 Dean Road in Shreveport, Louisiana (map). Pack 97 is a member of the Norwela Council. We invite boys in first through fifth grades to join us on the Cub Scout trail for lots of fun and opportunities for personal growth.

  • The Pinewood Derby Race was Saturday, the 21st. Thanks for participating. Council finals are Sat Feb 4th for winners.

  • The Iditarod is THIS WEEKEND. The following information is for all Webelo parents and scouts that will be camping with Troop 97 this weekend at Garland Scout Ranch.
    From Bill Waltman: We are looking forward to you camping with us this weekend and hope everyone is ready to have a great time. Please make sure that you eat supper before you come as our troop does not cook a meal on Friday night of the campout weekend. Also, if your scout has a compass, please let him bring it with him. It may be needed at an event. If he does not have a compass, please do not buy one, the leaders in our troop will have a few extra. Also, several of our troop leaders will be going out Thursday evening to set up our tents; so that, we may be available to help parents as they arrive on Friday. If any parents would like to set up their tent on Thursday evening, you can meet me (Mr. Bill) at campsite K around 6:00pm. If I can answer any questions please give me a call.

  • We will start signing up for the Blue and Gold Banquet on Monday Jan 30th .

  • Jan 21 is the Pack Pinewood Derby

  • Jan 27 is Iditarod with the Boy Scouts-Sign up with Mr. Bill.

  • Jan 30 is a Den meeting and sign up for Blue and Gold Banquet


  • Banquet details:

  • Sat. Feb 18th at 6pm

  • The theme is Mardi Gras.

  • Menu: Adult-Deep Fried turkey, Meat Pies, Red Beans & Rice w/Sausage, Dirty Rice, Salad, Bread, and King Cake

  • Child-Cane’s chicken and fries and Cupcakes

  • We will look for any free entertainment to have.

  • Cost is $15/Adult and $10/Child

  • Masks will be ordered to decorate.



  • Our next fundraiser is Jambalaya, Sat March 3rd. We will have tickets to hand out on Mon Feb 6th.

  • ALL PARENTS NEEDED: It’s that time again. We need you to prepare to become the New Leadership of the Pack. For 2012 – 2013, we need a Cub Master, Committee Chair and Treasurer. (These are absolute minimum positions that must be filled to keep the Pack active.) Next Committee Meeting Feb 20th

  • The End of Year Trip: The Participation agreement must be signed if you are going.

  • Spring Cuboree - March 16-18 - For Pack 97, it is a daytime activity-March 17th ONLY, all Scouts will need to be signed up at the Scout office and let them know we are not camping. Parents will need to bring food, snacks and drinks for their family if staying all day.

  • Applebee’s Fundraiser is April 21st
