Den Leader - Ken Calhoun
Assistant Den Leader -
As a parent or caring adult, you want your son to grow up to be self-reliant and dependable, worth and caring. Scouting has these same goals in mind for him.
The Tiger Cub adventure is for boys who are in the first grade or who are 7 years old. This program is filled with exciting indoor and outdoor activities to help boys develop self confidence and respect for other people. As a parent, you are there with your son to be a support and guide, but you do not do things for him. He will learn by doing things himself. And as he learns and grows, your relationship with him will grow too.
As a Tiger Cub, your son will be part of a group of boys his own age called a den. With his den, he can build confidence and self-esteem and earn recognition. He will also gain a sense of personal achievement from his new skills he learns. As a team, you and your son will search out new activities, discover new things, and share them with others. This is following the Tiger Cub concept of "Search, discover, and share."
Tiger Cubs teaches boys to do their best and to be helpful to others.
The Tiger Cub Handbook tells about the Tiger Cub program Requirements and Electives and gives information about dens, leaders, uniforms, and advancement. The Tiger Cub Handbook may be purchased at the Norwela Council Office (map) in Shreveport.
Tiger Cub uniform, patches, and accessories are also available for purchase from the Norwela Council Office (map).
